How can I become involved in Helping Hands?

·         Volunteer Opportunities: Helping Hands in conjunction with The Canby Livability Coalition has several volunteer opportunities and numerous community projects. Projects range from one day commitments such as our annual Livability Day Community Clean Up (last Sunday in June),  fundraising at Canby Saturday Market to more complex projects such as building a one of a kind Canby Art Park & Greenspace in North Canby or weekend commitments to participate in activities involved with First Fridays and Canby's Saturday Market. Please contact the Helping Hands advisor for further volunteer opportunities.

·         Become a Community Partner: Helping Hands is proud to be 100% dedicated to supporting only Canby Area based businesses and service providers. There are over 30 Canby-based businesses that provide quality services for our organization or in kind support for our established programs.  If you are a Canby-based business that is looking for a way to be a part of maintaining the quality of life in our community, please contact CLC's President, Bob Tice. Another way to support Canby Livability is to do business with our community partners and compliment them for supporting quality of life in our town. Let them know you found them on our website!

·         Become An Advisor: Do you have an area of concern or interest related to quality of life issues that you would like to see changes in? Helping Hands is designed to combine community resources, streamline volunteer efforts, identify funding strategies, and bring like-minded people together. Bring your idea for an advisory position to a monthly meeting and the board of advisors can explore with you the possibilities for your area of interest. The time commitment of an advisor is determined by the how much the individual wants to give to their area of interest. Most communication is by email. Advisors submit a brief monthly summary report to document what is happening with their area of interest as well as any upcoming needs and attend a monthly advisor meeting.

·         Attend a Monthly Meeting: Helping Hands meets with Canby Livability the 3rd Thursday of every month from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the upstairs meeting room at Season's Grill, located at 101 N Elm St, Canby, OR, 503-266-3805.  Ordering dinner from the menu is optional, please arrive at least 15 minutes early for food orders (and to help keep the meeting on schedule). Advisor meetings sometimes begin with a guest speaker or other presentation on new or upcoming community events, services, or a like-minded local organization.  Next each advisor gives a brief overview of their area of focus. This is followed by new business with the meeting ending promptly at 8:00.

·         Find an Area of Interest: Not sure of what you'd like to do or maybe you are new to the area? We invite you to meet with one of our advisors who will help you to navigate the different areas of livability in our community as well as the upcoming projects that might be of interest to you. Our team of advisors can connect you with resources and community programs that will help you identify what intrigues you the most. You might be surprised at how many exciting opportunities there are in our community.

·         Make a Donation to Helping Hands: Our organization believes that time, money, and energy are all assets. We have a wide range of support opportunities ranging from one-time volunteer projects to seasonal or year-long activities. Citizens with unique talents, professional skills, or hobbies find that they can also be an asset in assisting our organization. We're always interested in diversifying our support base and all levels of participation are encouraged.
