  • Canby Business Development Advisor for Canby Livability Coalition

  • Active Member of Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE)

  • Active Member of Bethany Church

Bob is a native Oregonian and has lived in the Canby area since 2000. He is a co-founder of Canby Livability. He is currently serving as its President and holds the advisor position that focuses on the Canby Business Development organization (CBD).

Bob works in Canby as the Plant Manager and Engineering Manager for a small satellite operation of Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. He has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and developed several products while employed by Bell Telephone Laboratories, Tektronix, and other companies since the mid 1960s.

Bob is an active member in the community working with CBD to address local business needs, with other business park groups to address common issues such as security and vandalism, with kids to improve the conditions at the Canby Skate Park, and with the Canby Park & Rec Board to address the recreational needs of Canby citizens. He is also active in his local Canby church.

Bob helped found Canby Livability because of his desire to see Canby maintain its unique quality of life. He recognized a need to provide a green space and other recreational facilities in the rapidly growing area around his home in north Canby to give kids a place to play in their neighborhood.

By helping create such a unique organization as Canby Livability, which is dedicated to proactively working with local government using sound governmental policies, Bob feels his efforts will help build a quality community for future Canby generations.

  • Neighborhood Associations Advisor for Canby Livability Coalition

  • Active member of Riverside Neighborhood Association

  • Active Member of Bethany Church, its Women’s Ministries Board, and co-leader of its sewing circle

Sheila moved to Oregon as an infant and grew up in Oregon City. In 2000 she moved with her husband Bob into a home surrounded by a filbert grove on the edge of Canby. She helped found Canby Livability and serves as its secretary. Her advisor focus is neighborhood associations. She brings to Canby Livability computer skills and clerical organization.

Sheila has a degree in math and has worked in computer related fields. She taught preschoolers in Sunday School for many years and has volunteered with literacy, tutoring GED students.

She helped start up Riverside Neighborhood Association and was its first recording secretary. She also volunteers with her church sewing circle which makes quilts for the poor and assembles supplies for third world hospitals. She really enjoys helping others.

Having lived in Oregon, Washington, and the Midwest, Sheila was amazed by the rural feel of Canby and the charming houses with their well-kept lawns and beautiful flowers. She was excited to be a part of Canby, but felt that citizens needed to organize to speak with one voice about maintaining the small town look and feel of Canby as it grows. She wants to help preserve the character of Canby.
